At the weekend I attended the cinema to watch the impossible directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, which is based on a true story surrounding the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami.

  • Tom Holland

The impossible is based on one families fight for survival after the Tsunami hit Thailand whilst they was on holiday there. The family become split during the disaster and later become reunited after a chain of events cause them to become reunited at a makeshift hospital. I found this movie moving and gripping throughout.

Film Enrichment; Momento.

File:Memento poster.jpg

Momento is a 2000 American psychological thriller
directed by Christopher Nolan.

. The main actors include
  • Guy Pearce
  • Carrie-Anne Moss
  • Joe Pantoliano

  • Momento is about a man who suffers from short term memory lose using polaroid pictures and tattoo's to help him rememeber important factors such as car number plates and names in his bid to track down the person who killed his beloved wife. The movie is set in a non-linear format with frequent flashbacks occuring throughout the movie. The movie is also set in a backwards format with the end being shown at the start of the movie and the story working its way backwards in an attempt to create an enigma. The movie ends with the man finding his wife's killer and killing him in a warehouse, this answers the audeinces curiosity about who the dead man we see in the polaroid picture at the start of the movie is.

  • Some of the main themes present in the movie are action, violence and romance.
  • I really liked the character 'Leonard Shelby' because he was a very mysterious and interesting character.
  • My favorite scene in the film was the scene where you eventually found out who killed the mans wife.
  • I enjoyed this film because it was very gripping and interesting, I enjoyed that non-linear narrative as it made the movie stand out from other drama/action movies.
